55
gallon drums. Let's face it they are not easy to move. Most
liquid weighs in at eight pounds per gallon, that means a
full 55 gallon drum can weigh as much as 450 pounds! Not all
drums are full of liquid either, some are used for storage
and these can weigh in and over 800 pounds. That is a back
breaker! Sure you can use a fork lift but you need a special
attachment just to pick up the drum, but what if you do not
have a fork lift? It is time to work smart not hard. You need
a drum dolly!
Things became easier when we
invented the wheel so stay out of the stone age and put some
wheels underneath that heavy 55 gallon drum! Drum dollies
make moving those heavy drums a snap.
There are a few different kinds available
and determining which one you need is as simple as knowing
the drum size and maximum weight. There are some that are
made from plastic. Plastic drum dollies have a lighter load
limit and are available for 30 and 50 gallon drums. If plastic
drum dollies are not strong enough, then there are some that
have steel frames and can support as much as 900 pounds! That's
a real workhorse!
On the bottom you will find four independent
rotating casters. These allow you to move in and out of really
tight places with ease.
Using a drum dolly will increase productivity,
portability, safety. You can easily move drums from one work
area to another in record time. |
