| Polyethylene
dollies are molded in one piece without seams or weak
areas, so they are very durable. Since the material
doesn't crack or bend easily, it can be used to transport
things that may cut into or otherwise damage other dolly
surfaces.
Although they are heavy duty,
their light weight makes them easy to move around since
they don't add much to the weight of the load. They're
also very easy to keep clean, even in hospital and other
sensitive areas. Because polyethylene has a hard, nonporous
surface, it can be bleached and scrubbed easily to eliminate
dangerous bacteria that may lurk on other surfaces.
Grease, oil and other problems are easier to remove
also, so you can keep them looking better for longer.
Whether you use these or some
other kind depends on what you are looking for in a
dolly, but be aware that the colors may fade over time,
depending on where and how they are used. Also, since
they're lighter weight than other types, the weight
of the object being moved must be balanced and distributed
evenly to avoid accidents.
Most polyethylene dollies are
reinforced with steel for more weight capacity and to
keep them from bending under the stress of weight. You
will find them in the 500 to 1,000 pound range for a
reasonable cost from most suppliers.
They're available with non marking
casters and with either a standard flush level or a
rubberized deck for safer and cleaner handling, both
of the dolly and it's load. |
